Synchronicity and Alamogordo
I believe in synchronicity - so, in my mind, it is no accident that an opportunity has come my way to write constructively about my town. This is a coming together of my needs at age 70 to “home,” my lifelong passion for creating community, the explosion of writing I am experiencing, and a belief in “noticing” my experience.
The project is the 2023 Alamogordo City Guide and I will be writing some articles about “48 hrs here” for visitors, “Why Alamogordo?” for business expression and recruitment, and more. I am really jazzed about this as it will be a way to celebrate what we have to offer, the traditions we hold, and the ways and directions we are growing. I will have the chance to meet business owners and capture both their profiles as well as their thoughts about having chosen to establish here and how they want to see us grow.
The synchronicity to my own life is personally stunning - “48 hours” as the final chapter of my life and what I savor in my area, “why Alamogordo?” - the meaning of my choice to settle here and the energy that is emerging for me in celebrating this community in positive, constructive ways.
I like Alamogordo. I want us to grow and prosper without losing our traditions. I truly hope my contributions to this publication will be helpful both in honoring, welcoming, and noticing what makes us special.
There are two notions that are vital for me and they have been so for quite some time. Querencia is one. This is a metaphysical concept in the Spanish language which loosely means finding one’s power in the right space at the right time. It is literally about bullfighting - when a beleaguered bull makes a final stand and comes into his power. It is a “homing.” The second is kairos which is a Greek concept about time. Different than chronos or sequential time, it is about “opportune moments” - the pause to notice and fully experience what will unfold. It is a connection with something resonant where gratitude and transformative shifts occur.
So with synchronicity, querencia and kairos converging...I will celebrate Alamogordo NM!
I expect a good publisher, editorial staff and the organization involved will assist me in focussing to task and being effective. And now that my understanding of my philosophy, it's right timing and congruence are clear to me. Let’s go!
