On Being 5

Last night I felt like Art Linkletter. Do you remember his conversations with children? Out of the blue this is how ours began:

JESSIE: God can do back flips on a tight rope.

Grandma Kathy: I didn’t know that.

JESSIE: He can do anything you know.

Grandma Kathy: Have you seen him do backflips?

JESSIE: That’s silly Grandma....don’t you remember he died. Now he’s a ghost. He’s everywhere but you can’t see him.

Grandma Kathy: You can feel her though.

JESSIE: Grandma, God is a HE...and I can’t touch him, he’s a ghost.

End of conversation.
