An Ending

My cousin has died. We were connected by souls – our own and our mothers. The ties were across generations and I adored her.  As a child herself, she was given the responsibility of care for me. Our times together could be volatile, steeped in wicked fun and adventure, full-out battle or stillness. She found strength and focus in the past. I survive in forward. We could connect at times in the present if there were 4-leggeds complicit.

Her death was gentle…a “good one” where she made her own choices and her dignity was honored.

Noticing portals is an important part of kairos living…. I went to my quarter horse and waited.

She came as a hawk. Entirely unburdened.

It is a deep ending for me. And now….thin time.
